CALGARY ART THERAPYWhat Is Art Therapy?
The idea of using art in psychotherapy has been around since the early days of Carl Jung. This modality of healing has continued to grow and expand showing people how the benefits of making art in a safe, secure setting can be. Helping people resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self esteem and self awareness, and achieve insight. It is not about making beautiful works of art & and one doesn't need to be an artist
Find Out If Art Therapy Is Right For You
|
It is through the making of art that feelings trapped inside the body can be moved and expanded on, bringing an awareness to ourselves that was before uncovered.

Art Therapy Support Healing In:

Bringing unconscious feelings to consciousness for deeper awareness & understanding
Integrating psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative process, encourages people to express and understand emotions in a way that creates lasting healing. Art Therapy can help a person give expression to their feelings and hidden inner conflicts that they may not have words for.
When people are then able to associate feelings verbally to the artwork created, the therapy speeds up recovery.

I am not separate from what I do.
I am familiar with trauma; it has moved through my life as well. The tools I have learned along the way and my studies as a Calgary counsellor and art therapist are what have supported me through this journey to transcend difficult experiences. But before we get to using the tools, my first goal in therapy is to SEE you and to UNDERSTAND what is it that you need to be the person you were born to be. The person you were meant to be before you had to cope, adapt, change, please, appease, flight, or fight for your survival.
The work we do together will offer these tools to you, with me as your guide and protector, as you navigate your own personalized path to transformative healing. Once we know who you are and what you need, we will embark on a journey to help you recover your strengths, your resiliency, your gifts so you can dive deep, retrieve your treasures, heal the wounds, and come back home. Home to your Self. |
Calgary Counselling SolutionsI Believe that True and Lasting Healing Lives within Every Individual
The work we do together focuses on that inner strength, power and knowing to help you move into a place of sustained growth. The goal is to move beyond surviving and into a state of thriving. I am guessing you are here because it’s time to heal. I am inviting you to uncover the healer within. Together we can discover how you can reconnect with your true self in a way that is both deeply healing and full of freedom and possibility. |
Somatic TherapyRegular talk therapy focusses on thoughts in the mind where Somatic Therapy creates a curiosity of how thoughts, feelings and sensations are experienced within the body.
The work we do together is about creating lasting healing and the most effective way for this to happen is for you to feel that coming from within, not from outside of yourself; this is what Somatic Therapy supports. By tapping into inner strength through meditation, mindfulness and noticing the present moment, one is then able to access this inner strength, the felt sense, intuition, and part of self that is beyond physical form when it is needed most. By developing a relationship to where your inner power lives, what it looks like and the way it feels, a stronger sense of self emerges where we can move deeper into healing with a sense of safety. |
Trauma & Depression CounsellingIf you have been affected by trauma, stress, or abandonment, it’s likely that you have created a number of emotional and physical ‘disconnects’ as a means of coping. You might be disconnected from your body, from parts of your being, from your essence, your intuition, your creativity, sexuality, or the whole world. These disconnects are the psyche’s way of dealing with difficult experiences.
The work we do together will allow you to have a deeper understanding of these coping mechanisms so you are able to move beyond them to live the full and joyous life you were intended to have. |
Attachment Therapy
A large part of the work I do with clients is to support healing and repair of attachment wounds. What often afflicts us as adults and even as children has roots in our upbringing and the way we were raised. Ways we connect with others in relationship can be categorized into styles such as secure, anxious, avoidant and disorganized. It is through the therapeutic process that we are able to identify the ways we connect with others and work towards repairing ways we reach out or avoid connection. Ultimately, everyone wants to be loved and connected to others in some way, although for many this does not feel safe, which is why we guard ourselves from or work towards closer connection. Underneath these styles of connecting are usually a fear that we will be left and abandoned or that we will become suffocated and our freedom taken away. Once attachment styles are identified we may begin the process of working towards secure attachment so the relationships in our life feel healthy, balanced, resourceful and safe.
Autism & ADHD Counselling
For those working with symptoms of ADHD, Autism or Different Abilities, finding a counsellor can be challenging. Art Therapy and Counselling to support Neurodivergence can allow a person to utilize non-verbal communication in a safe and supportive environment to express challenging emotions. Expression through art, rather than language, can help one to make sense of emotional, mental, and physical realities. For more information on the Calgary Autism counselling, Calgary ADHD counselling programs and online counselling options I offer, please feel free to contact me.

Using art in session allows you to work from an unconscious place, allowing whatever is present to move to the surface. Feelings from within the body and mind move into the art in front of you. Once feelings are represented outside of the body, we are able to take a better look at issues with a different perspective To Create Lasting Changes in the Mind and Body.

We Start with a Complimentary 15-30 minute Discovery Call
For you to ask me any questions and give me a sense of what you are needing.
Before we begin a therapeutic relationship, we need to create safety and ensure we are a fit. If we are meeting online, it is also important that you have a safe and private space to explore your feelings.
