Supporting Psychedelic Therapy with Expressive Arts
Current research highlights the transformative potential of psychedelic medicines on the brain and long-term psychological states. However, without proper preparation and integration, the benefits may diminish, and adverse effects could arise. This presentation explores the essential role of Expressive Arts in ensuring the effective integration of psychedelic experiences, positioning creative practices as key tools in supporting transformation. The risks of neglecting integration, such as dependency on heightened states of consciousness for mental well-being, will also be discussed.

This presentation examines the deep connections between Expressive Arts, transpersonal experiences, and the use of psychedelics. Drawing inspiration from pioneers like Stan Grof, Carl Jung, and Freud, and incorporating the wisdom embedded in the artistic traditions of indigenous cultures, it will explore how expressive arts practices offer pathways to engage unconscious processes and expand consciousness—whether through psychedelics, dreams, meditation, or other methods such as breathwork.

Participants will gain an understanding of ethical considerations when engaging in Expressive Arts interventions within psychedelic contexts, particularly when these practices are undertaken by those not formally trained in the field. Practical tools for supporting integration, as well as strategies to mitigate potential risks for both clients and practitioners, will be shared.

This presentation offers a rich exploration of Expressive Arts' role in psychedelic therapy, emphasizing its importance as the field of psychedelics becomes more integrated into mainstream practices.

The Essential Role of Art Therapy and Indigenous Wisdom in Trauma-Informed Psychedelic Healing
As psychedelic-assisted therapy moves toward clinical mainstreaming, one essential modality remains underrepresented—art therapy. This experiential workshop presents a trauma-informed and harm-reduction approach to psychedelic preparation and integration. Through expressive visual inquiry, participants will explore inner resourcing, intention-setting, and embodied meaning-making as foundations for sustainable transformation.

Art therapy is not an adjunct but a core modality in psychedelic care. It externalizes the ineffable, accesses the subconscious, regulates the nervous system, and invites dialogue with the inner healer. Especially in the liminal space following a psychedelic experience, creative expression becomes a bridge—linking insight to action, emotion to embodiment, and the personal to the collective.

In alignment with decolonization, this presentation honours how Indigenous cultures have long used art and ritual to integrate non-ordinary states. It explores how contemporary practitioners can amplify these voices while acknowledging colonial impacts and respectfully engaging ceremonial wisdom without appropriation.
This work also fosters sustainability—resisting the commodification of psychedelic therapy by recentering healing within the self, not the substance. It unites disciplines by bridging transpersonal psychology, expressive arts, Indigenous knowledge, and clinical ethics into a holistic model of care.

Lemurian Life Expo
August 6-12, 2025- Mount Shasta, California

Channeling Psychedelics for Lasting Healing with Art Workshop

This workshop focusses on ways to continue your connection to non-ordinary states as a way for them to have the greatest lasting impact of healing on your psyche. By using creative means and accessing deeper brain wave states, which occur during channelling, you will learn ways to connect with the spirit of psychedelic medicines, whether they be plant, animal or synthetic based. As we develop a relationship to these medicines psychically, we can continue to access their wisdom and support when needed, long after a medicine journey has occurred. This experiential workshop combines meditation and creative approaches, utilizing means of our oldest indigenous ancestors to understand the deep complexities held within the spirit of psychedelic experiences and ways that they bring healing.
